In the cancer world the saying no one fights alone is commonly used, that is a true statement as your caregiver is right next to you. Going through each treatment, scan and scare. They go through the same emotions as a cancer patient whether they show it or not. For example, my last scan Eric asked me if I was ok I was like I’m scared for the results and he said everything will be ok, we’ll get through each hurdle what ever that may be. Him asking me that pretty much told me he was scared too, even though he never said it.

It’s been almost 4 1/2 years since cancer entered our lives. Can’t believe I’m saying that considering I was given 2-3 years to live. My husband has been there for me every step of the way. From going to chemo in the beginning with our newborn baby girl and again, due to covid, waiting in the car while I had chemo, clearly not by choice. He has always been there for every surgery, ER visit, and he’s just a phone call away when I go to treatment, scans and dr appts in the cities, which is an hour and a half drive from our house. He took on this caregiver role like a champ.

This caregiver role is no easy task. Having to take care of someone is tough, trust me I wouldn’t want to take care of me. With that being said, Jack’s is a place for my husband to go to fit in. These guys understand each other, they all can relate in some sort of way. It truly is a blessing for my husband to be able to be a part of Jack’s. All caregivers deserve this award but I guess this year is my husband's year. Congratulations Babe! I love you more than words can say. Thank you for everything you have done for Madelyn and I!
