The Who's Who of Who We're Grateful For

December 21, 2023
Picture

  1. Staff that both show up with Starbucks for everyone AND make loud buzzer noises when we’re wrong.
  2. Janet (our office puppy) for his “carpet scoots” during our team meetings.
  3. Our founders Dustin Cesarek and Justin Nicolay for remaining active members of our coalition 9 years later.
  4. For the heartbeat of our most important program, our 23 Jack-to-Jack Coaches.
  5. For the underpaid and overworked social workers who trust us with the caregivers they serve.
  6. Richard Anderson for starting and supporting us on our Traction/EOS journey and the two 5-star hospitality dinner parties he’s creating for our donor community.
  7. Susan Kerber for leading the Big GIVE again. No concept too big and no detail too small for her to master.
  8. Rob Smith for having the foresight and courage to tackle what we think may be Minnesota’s first caregiver conference.
  9. Jill Matheis, Roger Miller, Jane Menning, and Michele Zoromski jumping into our Klatch program as first-time ever facilitators.
  10. Mike McGarry, for being Mike McGarry. As well as his Storm Chasing teammates Aaron Hill, Ann Kirby, Chris Meuleners, Mark Mattson, Patrick Triemert, Logan Green, and Rob Smith. And Fred Sklenar for welcoming the Storm Chasers to his doorstep.
  11. Shirley Kern for inviting us back to the Upper Midwest Oncology Education Network’s Annual meeting.
  12. Lissa Martinez Huebner for inviting us to speak to the caregivers at the U of M’s Survivorship Conference.
  13. Allison Breininger of The Negative Space for coaching our Jack-to-Jack Coaches and no Allison we DO NOT REGRET inviting you to help us plan the caregiver conference
  14. Dan Cramer for making #GiveToTheKlatchDay a huge success, AGAIN.
  15. Jean Accius for connecting us with his former colleagues at AARP.
  16. Chris Meuleners for showing up for everything...EXCEPT for his Jean Accius II Caregiver Award.
  17. Diane Woody for her accounting expertise. Without her we wouldn’t know where our funding comes from or goes to, and our staff wouldn’t get their paychecks.
  18. Travis Robertson for designing (and donating) yet another Mystery Date Night (No doubt he’s trying to top last year’s which was miniature horse yoga, ax throwing, wreck it rage room, dinner at BLG, and a concert by The Pork Tornadoes cover band.)
  19. Mark Mattson for inspiring us with his caregiving story at our golf tournament fundraiser. As well as Cole and Joel Scattarelli for listening to Sarah Manes and supporting us with their golf tournament for the second year in a row.
  20. Kathy Bucher for being a gal who can seemingly solve all problems AND bring you cookies.
  21. Patrick Triemert for facilitating the Sequel Makers First Pitch Party and knocking it out of the park (and for everyone that showed up for it).
  22. Heather Erickson for her “Emptying Your Boxes” idea as well as her support in bringing the program to life.
  23. Allan Hammell for whipping up a giant New Orleans Style Shrimp Boil (complete with Sazeracs) for our donor community.
  24. Tessa Rittberg and Spencer Donkers for their mad graphic design skills.
  25. Alicia Baraga for her extraordinary attention to event planning details.
  26. Pete Young for being our Mushroom Hunt Champion and Scott Taylor for being our Ice Fishing Champion, both for the second year in a row.
  27. jeremy messersmith for making Kyle happy cry by closing out our first ever Spring Hootenanny with his hit, “Everybody gets a Kitten.”
  28. The huge hearted humans at AARP, Cancer Legal Care, Cariloop, Colon Cancer Coalition, Gilda’s Club, ImagineIT, JackFM 104.1, and the Urban Growler for being part of our mutual admiration society.
  29. For everyone that’s invited us into their caregiving journey and for how much they’ve taught us about caregiving.
  30. For the 329 individual donors so far this year, our mentors/mentees, and our families.
Humbled by your faith in us,
Haley Kline, Jeff Myhre and Kyle Woody
